Where the Idea Came From
Codemuse started in Kota Kinabalu in early 2023, when a handful of developers and educators found themselves frustrated with the same problem: online AI content was either too shallow to be useful or too academic to be approachable. There wasn't much in between, especially for learners in East Malaysia who wanted structured guidance without having to travel or subscribe to expensive international platforms.
So they decided to build something more grounded. Small cohorts, clear week-by-week structure, real projects from the first session, and mentors who actually review your code rather than pointing you toward a forum. The name came from the idea that good code has a kind of authorial quality to it — it reflects the thinking of the person who wrote it. A muse, in the old sense, is what helps you find that voice.
Since then, the school has run programmes in Python fundamentals, machine learning engineering, and advanced AI development. The community is small but active, and most learners end up referring people they know once they finish a programme — which we take as a decent sign that things are working.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Code First, Theory After
We introduce concepts through working examples rather than abstract definitions. You see how something behaves before you learn the name for it.
Feedback on Your Work
Generic responses don't help much. Mentors read what you've actually written and respond to the specific decisions you made in your code.
Honest About Difficulty
AI development involves real complexity. We don't pretend it's simple, but we do structure things so the difficulty is introduced at the right pace.
Portfolio Over Certificates
A piece of working code says more than a completion record. Every programme is designed so you finish with something to show, not just something to cite.
Small Groups by Design
We keep cohorts small so mentors can actually follow each learner's progress. This isn't scalable in the way a video platform is — that's the point.
Local and Accessible
We're based in Sabah and serve learners across Malaysia. Pricing reflects the local context, and our support operates within Malaysian time zones.

Founder & Lead Instructor
Spent eight years writing production Python before moving into education. Leads the Machine Learning Engineering Track and designs the curriculum across all three programmes.
Siti Khadijah
Programme Director
Brings a background in instructional design and data science. Oversees how sessions are structured and how learners move through each programme week by week.
Reuben Bongkos
Senior Mentor, Advanced Track
Works in deep learning and model deployment professionally. Leads the Advanced AI Development programme and handles one-to-one mentoring for the capstone phase.

Our Standards and Approach
The principles we follow when building and running our programmes.
Reviewed Curriculum
Programme content is reviewed before each cohort to reflect what's currently relevant in Python, ML tooling, and deployment practices. We don't run the same slides year after year.
Learner Privacy
Personal information shared during enrolment is used only for programme administration and communication. We don't pass it to third parties or use it for marketing purposes without consent.
Honest Completion Records
Completion records reflect actual programme participation and project submission. We don't issue documentation for work that hasn't been done — which protects the value of those who finish properly.
Responsive Support
Questions sent during office hours receive a response within one working day. Mentor feedback on submitted work is returned within 48 hours during active programme weeks.
Fair Pricing
Programme fees reflect the genuine cost of running small cohorts with active mentoring. We publish prices openly and don't add hidden charges after enrolment. Payment arrangements can be discussed.
Continuous Improvement
We collect feedback after each cohort and use it to adjust pacing, exercises, and session structure. If something isn't working for learners, we'd rather hear about it and fix it than ignore it.
